The annual general meeting of the Madison Historical Society will take place on May 15, 2025 in the Chase Room of the Madison Public Library. At the meeting, a final vote on Officers and Trustees for the 2025-26 will take place. All Society members are invited. In addition, there will be a guest speaker, David Hanna, who teaches history at Stuyvesant High School in New York City. His subject will be based on his new book, History Nation: A citizen’s Guide to the History of the United States.
David Hanna has been a frequent speaker at the Smithsonian’s National Portrait Gallery in Washington and is recipient of the New York Times Teachers Making a Difference Award. He is the author of numerous books including Broken Icarus: The Chicago World’s Fair, the Golden Age of Aviation, and the Rise of Fascism; Knights of the Sea: The True Story of the Boxer and the Enterprise War of 1812; Elvis-Lonely Star at the Tip; Rendezvous With Death: The Americans Who Joined the Foreign Legion in 1914 to Fight for France.
